| Posted Comments: Sunny100 (2011-10-07) | This is a lovely looking little well house, simply built but strong and effective for its purpose. Nice photo. | cazzyjane (2011-10-08) | Thanks Sunny. Looking back at an old photo of it taken in 1891 from Quiller-Couch's book 'The Ancient and Holy Wells of Cornwall', it seems not to have altered at all in the last 120 years. | Sunny100 (2011-10-08) | Is that Sir Arthur Quiller Couch by any chance. Didn't he write childrens books ? I seem to remember reading something many years ago. | cazzyjane (2011-10-09) | No, It was M & L Quiller-Couch, who continued their father Thomas's work of logging the holy wells of Cornwall as he was concerned they were fast disappearing, and would soon be gone forever. Thomas was the father of Sir Arthur Quiller Couch. I am not sure if he wrote childrens books. |
