View over the long barrow to south east.
To the right the western chamber.
Interesting to see another of these undersea monuments!
What is the tidal range here? and do the stones get completely covered each tide?
There's something so forlorn about this monument returning to the Earth and slowly being deconstructed by the tides. It's in such a liminal place and soon it's about to go out of existence.
The tidal range here is two hours after low flat. I never saw the stones at high tide but they should be nearly complete covered with water. I visited Sylt for the first time. It was a daytrip and I lent me a bike. 10 minutes after I started my trip, it began a heavy rain and storm. I found a miserable shelter under willow bushes. I stood there for 1 hour and I'm getting really wet. After a coffee and a Museums visit in the next town (Keitum) I continued my tour with nearly dry chlothes. I lost a lot of time and I couldn't see all the barrows as I planned.
Good effort! The things we put ourselves through to see these old stones!
