(2011-08-02) | Looks as if it recently was cleared from lichen(Algae/moss. Most of these erratics used at funnel beaker megaliths are reddish, red or grey granite (the others here are red too, possibly less intense, but at least the one behind the one mentinoned seems of similar intense red). As they are usually overgrown with lichen/algae/moss, the original colour is often hardly visible. Of course it is obvious from most sites, that the stones were carefully selected and the ones of special shape or structure or colour were sometimes placed at special parts of the chamber. But as it all was originally covered by a barrow they mainly cared for the parts facing to the inwards of the chamber. | holger rix
