Description Cutting from an Old-maps.co.uk 1903-4 1:10,560 Leicestershire map where this spot, grid-ref. 443203 325951, is marked "B.M.", which I think means Burial Mound.

I believe BM was used for Bench Mark but I am open to correction

Yes, BM is bench mark. OS map abbreviations here:

The number to the right of the B.M. will be the height (in feet) above sea level.
