| Posted Comments: Thorgrim (2004-06-28) | Traces of tin slag and a smelting furnace have been found to the south of the well. Perhaps this stone is connected to the tin industry. Chun Castle was built in the 3rd century BC and re-used in the 6th century AD. Much of the stone was taken away to build Madron Workhouse! | littlesatsuma (2007-10-09) | I can't be certain but I have seen stones like this before, the Plain an Gwarry (Cornish - playing place) in St Just is one, I believe that miners used to have drilling competitions there.
Granite stone would also be slit by drilling a line of holes and then hammering in splitting chisels. |
