| Posted Comments: golux (2012-11-23) | This unique symbol stone originally stood about 40m ENE of the Craw Stane and would have formed part of the large pallisaded enclosure which was very likely the seat of a Pictish king. One of the impressive finds on this site was an iron pin in the shape of a slender-handled axe, a miniature version of the ceremonial axe held by the Rhynie Man.
There is a replica of this stone on display in the vestibule of Rhynie Primary School in the centre of Rhynie. |
