| Posted Comments: TheCaptain (2011-06-01) | The ancient kit is still in there then! Anyone any ideas at all what these are, or might have been used for ? | irundarra (2011-06-03) | Hello, captain! I do not know what they are but they are farming tools. Since then there are well kept inside the dolmen. | davidmorgan (2011-06-03) | They're ploughs. | TheCaptain (2011-06-03) | I wondered that, but presumably a single furrow? But whats all that metalwork sticking up into the air above what looks like a gearbox, and the big sprocketed wheels? | Runemage (2011-06-03) | Maybe if you contacted a group like this one and emailed them the link, they may know?
http://www.southhamsvintagemachinery.co.uk/index.html | davidmorgan (2011-06-04) | I suspect they're horse-drawn, and the strange uprights are where the reins go. The ratchet thing is for raising and lowering, and the gearbox looking thing is for rotating the blades. | TheCaptain (2011-06-05) | Cheers David. All so basic once explained, and a few pictures of old ploughs googled! |
