| Posted Comments: Pete Smith (2005-11-21) | attempted to reach Drgarn fawr Dec friday18 2005. ifollowed paths shown on maps approaching from east. these paths were very difficult to find and ende up on Bryn glas. The ground around here is treacherous and iwas up to my thighs in bog on several occasions. I ran out of light and got back to cafe carpark as the light vanished. will attempt this again in the summer when drier and have more time. Also i think it would be easier to approach on paths from the west. Good luck!! | TimPrevett (2005-11-21) | Crumbs, Pete, sounds rather perilous! Good luck next time. Are you Dr Who, by the way? Your trip is in the future! | kiri (2005-12-06) | It is pretty treacherous up there especially this time of the year, but the speediest way is definatly from the east. If you start off from the telephone box on the road leading up to the Claerwen Reservoir at Rhiwnant and keep the Rhiwnant stream/river on your right. Follow the wide track over the river and aim for the highest part of the hill. There is a distinct track to follow all the way. By the way its bliss up there in the summer and some of the biggest views in Wales can be had on a fine day. Also a trip over to Llyn Carw is well worth a deviation. |
