It is deeply hidden in sapling trees, scarred and heather grown. It has little to recommend the struggle to find it. Standing to its southern side is a trig point, and slightly to the north the ground drops away sharply.

(2011-05-27) | Actually Andy, the reference you give is a photo of the last of the Ashley Heath North barrows. I have annotated that photo 'The most visible and highest of the local 5'.
The one above on this page is however the one under threat from Purple Haze, as indeed is the whole of the natural order of things hereabouts. The Trig point here is in the bushes left of photo. Although the barrow mound of the other is higher, the natural landscape is lower than the ground here above ( if any of that makes sense ).

It is the http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/43404 which points to the incorrect barrow ( see my above response 2011-05-27 ) and which is comfortably out of the outrageous destruction zone. |
