|Description ||St. Brigid's Holy Well, Liscannor. R 044900
The Burren in Co. Clare has scores of holy wells not all of which have stood the test of time. Some are cased in concrete with modern plastic pipes extruding from the casing whilst others have disappeared under the vegetation. This well is probably the most important exception and is stated as being "one of the three most strongly lasting survivals of Lughnasa". This is a shot down the curved passage to the well proper at the end. |
