Jadeite - aaaaaaaah - lovely jadeite.
These are the pinnacle of polishing of stone axes - they are insane. Just over 100 known in Britain (all from stone quarried from Monte Viso, Italian Alps - very hard to get to). Many more known from Italy and France. These are truly magical to hold. I have held several dozen of them and they make me tingle every time. Approx 4600BC (all 9). Split into 3 pics (one for each shelf) |
| Posted Comments: Blingo von Trumpenstein (2011-02-01) | I could not have taken a better photo. They are behind very reflective bulletproof glass and fairly high up. I went and got a chair to stand on and got friends to reduce the glare by sheltering me with coats.
A great deal of effort went into getting even this (grantedly mediocre quality) image . . . please consider this before rating it poorly . . . |
