This legend comes from the time when the capstone of the Whispering Knights was dragged down to the stream to be used as a footbridge. Every night it moved, so at last it was dragged back up the hill again. Strange to tell, but it took more horses to drag it down the hill than up it!" from Mysterious Britain - Janet & Colin Bord.
