Or even this ?

Thank you very much Captain. In fact all of the thousands of funnel beaker chambers looked like this inside, but „thanks“ to our „modern“-world not many survived in this state. And somehow the chambers itself seem to be often ignored nowadays and are rarely depicted.
King Crimson….great „band“. Of course the „Court of the Crimson King“- Cover artwork is striking as well as the music.... Personally I especially love KC’s 1972-1974 incarnation.

Funny you guys remember this. I loved Greg Lake. And The Nice. And early ELP. Loooong time ago.

Cheers Holger. I love a wide range of music. "Old" and "new". And I also have the first 3 ELP-Albums, listen/ed to the Nice and great Greg Lake too. And King Crimson/Robert Fripp is still active anyway. Let's have a music portal ;) Ok, there is Discogs anyway...

Have to say I dont really know King Crimson, but I knew the cover well when at school as loads of others carried it around like a badge of honour. And its very emorable and could be considered scary!

I think the main thing that reminded me of that is the colours, all that pinky/red and blue. SI that real colouring?

ANd is this chamber original, or has it been reconstructed?

Yes, this are the natural colours. The Scandinavian granite erratics used by the funnel beaker people are largely red (feldspar), but this original colour is often obscured by algae (the blue ones or green ones in the foreground left) and/or lichen and moss (especially on the exposed sites). Another reason why this might look unusal is that most people use direct (on camera) flash inside the chambers which tends to extremely overemphasizes green colours (algae) and/or white (from chalk deposites).

This chamber C is unrestored as it was saved inside the long-barrow. Only some of the upper parts of the dry-walling were grouted when the whole site was restored (several fallen kerbstones were re-erected and the Chamber B was repaired)

Regarding granite colours: this is a link showing several varieties:

(sorry it is of a granite company ;)
If the colours were numbered and the lines in alphabetical order (as in Excel or OpenOfficeCalc for example) the colours often observable at funnel beaker sites are:
C1, C2, D1, D2, D4, E1, E2, F1, F3.
