|Description ||The winter solstice sunrise (morn of the 21st Dec). Standing on the cup-marked Winter Hill Stone and looking up to the Hitching Stone, the sun rose a few degreees of arc south of the projected winter solstice alignment, which I thought may have accounted for the name of Winter Hill Stone. |
Maybe 5000 years ago it could have been closer? It was knocking on -15 degrees C when we were there - much colder than that reported on the TV! It was flippin freezing!!!
