Cup and ring carvings and maze-like rock-art on a limestone slab at Roughting Linn (Rowting Linn) on Bar Moor, between Lowick and Milfield, Northumbria.
The carvings are thought to date from the Stone Age. They are probably connected with spirituality, magic, birth or death. There are, apparently, some 60 rock carvings adorning the faces of the rocks in this area. |
| Posted Comments: rich32 (2010-12-18) | This is fell sandstone outcrop rather than limestone. | Sunny100 (2010-12-18) | Yes it is indeed, apologies. We have a lot of limestone up here where I live. It must be on my brain! Thanks rich32. |
