| Posted Comments: theCaptain (2010-11-05) | I find all these rock cut places fascinating. What is the rock type for them, I guess its some kind of soft volcanic tufa or something. Otherwise it must have been almost impossible work. | DrewParsons (2010-11-05) | I am not sure what the rock type at this site is. Other rock cut tombs vary: There is soft compact calcareous limestone at the rock cut caves at Anghelu Ruju not too far away from this site. At Sedini (Della Rocca) it is also a type of limestone. At Roccia dell'Elefante it is Trachyte whixch is a light coloured fine grained volcanic rock with feldspar and small amounts of either pyroxine or amphibole. |
