Description Can this strange carving be that of St Anne? Surely not - is it then the face of the ancient goddess Anu? Has her name been Christianised into Anne?

In Germany there are nearly always wells close to chapels or churches dedicated to St. Anna, some still intact or visible, some survived only in tales and stories. Same with St.Michael - he was the one to christianize pagan sites on hilltops.
