A 220' circle henge with a 100' diameter stone circle within the bank and ditch. Originally there were 12 stones but only 4 survive one being broken off to half its original height. The three intact stones measure 17', 15'6" and 15'. Within the circle is a cove. The slot between the cove's two portals aligns exactly on the round boss of Maes Howe. This shot shows the cove. |
