Contact them for permission to reproduce it. | | | Description | Illustration of the Anglo-Norse cross fragments in St Andrew's church at Gargrave. These fragments, dating from the 9th century, would have originally made-up four Saxon crosses. They were excavated from under the foundations of the old church. The carvings include interlacing, knotwork, scrolls and an animal figure. The church stands on a pre-Christian/pagan site, while just to the SE is Kirk Sink the site of a 2nd-4th century CE Roman villa. |
