An inscription on the front side reads: DRUSTANS HIC IACIT CVNOMORI FILIUS or 'here lies Tristan son of Mark'. Tristan, a 5th century prince of Cornwall, was the son of Mark (Conomorius), king of Cornwall. Legend says either he died in battle or was poisoned by a spear shot by his own father. On the other side of the stone there is an incised cross. |
