The central mound, complete with ditch and surrounding stone circle.
Felton Common lies directly under the flight path to Bristol Lulsgate airport, at the eastern end of the runway. This airfield was very active during the second world war, and it is known that there was much military activity on Felton Common during that period. It would not surprise me if the barrows had been substantially rearranged during that period, perhaps to be used as a gun emplacement with a protective stone surround.
