| Posted Comments: Martin L (2010-08-02) | Yes, it is. Of course this is not the worst case scenario regarding "deposits". If necessary I always remove rubbish from the sites. I recommend to carry along refuse sacks.
| Runemage (2010-08-02) | Is leaving offerings at sites an issue in other countries, Martin? We try so hard to promote the take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but your footprints mantra but at many places in the UK, it doesn't seem to be heard. | Martin L (2010-08-03) | Runemage, I only visited sites in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Italy and France. Regarding my limited experiences in these countries it is obvious that offerings take place and sometimes things get left like candles, ribbons, flowers or settings of smaller stones for example. Often people leave coins inside cup-marks. But of course the main problem are „tourists“ leaving lots of rubbish like food packages, (broken) bottles, cigarette ends and so on at the more exposed locations. And often you recognize signs of vandalism like graffiti at those sites. |
