The Neolithic burial chamber or dolmen in the parish of Drewsteignton, dates from 3000 BC. The capstone weighs in at 16 tons and is supported by 3 uprights. Legend says that three (or four) spinster on their way to market early one morning decided to build the dolmen before they ate breakfast. They did this because of a trist, each wanting to out do the other so they could marry the same man. |
