|Description ||A panoramic shot of Bryn Celli Ddu, looking into the entrance portal. John and Dave departing through the gate.
A very special location, and well worth a visit. |
|We visited Cairn Holy, near Gatehouse of Fleet in Dumfriesshire recently. The stones there are bare, but this really helps me realise what they must have looked like originally.
Are the circular stones "Kerb Stones"?|
|We have just visited this site on our hols, and i never took any pics of the place as it made me feel sick and i couldnt wait to get away from the place i found it very eerie|
|An incredibly evocative and significant site. Few sites I have visited can compare to Bryn celli Ddu in terms of archaeological importance or direct connection with the ancient past. Not to be missed!|
| I visited Bryn Celli Ddu in July 2008 and it is indeed quite impressive, with|
excellent signposting. But the present mound is entirely reconstructed
after excavation, and is only about one-half as large as the Neolithic mound. While the entrance shown here is the original one, the "back entrance"
to the chamber on the other side is modern. The carved stone behind the mound is most unusual, and reminded me of Gavrinis in Brittany.
