Description Extensive paint damage to the King's Men (Rollright Stones). Jane writes: "The photos don't show up the damage as clearly as I would like, but in some lights the paint blends in with the lichens. Every stone has at least one paint mark on it. It looks like whoever did it has used a brush and has just thrown the paint at the stones." English Heritage Conservators have visited the site and they recommend people do not try to pick the paint off as this will damage the underlying stone. Instead we have to leave the paint to dry and then the conservators will come and take the paint off slowly and very carefully. Hopefully, this will also minimise the damage to the lichen colonies too. Image copyright Jane Hopkins
