View looking southwest at the outside of the remaining bank across the top of the hill. There is no sign of a ditch to go with the bank.
I may well be wrong, but I think that this bank may be a former internal division of what was once a much bigger camp. The defensive remnants on the steep face of the hill seem to surround the entire promontary, not just the southern end. |
| Posted Comments: KayK (2005-10-10) | what are the circles in the grass? Possible hut circles? | Thorgrim (2005-10-10) | Fairy rings caused by fungi. The fungus spreads outwards and at the edge, it enriches the soil and so the grass grows lusher. Later in the year, the toadstools will appear |
