| Posted Comments: Thorgrim (2004-03-29) | Now that really is a stone face! | Jesse (2004-06-02) | Hello Thorgrim. I am a new student and have found this site extremely interesting. On this particular stone, is the painted on face a representation of actual markings found on the stone? Thanks. | Thorgrim (2004-06-02) | Hi Jesse. I don't know the answer to your question, but guess that it is just a modern joke. | RunaStera (2004-07-07) | Well, this "joke" is about 20 years old.
The legend says, that this stone was carried by the devil. He wants to block the entrance of the church of the village of Venne. But in the crack of dawn a ***** cried so loud, that the devil abstained from his work and rammed the stone enraged into the bottom.
I think, that the "artist" were inspired by this tale ;-)
around this stone are every year small beltane celebrations.
Greetings ...
| RunaStera (2004-07-07) | the ***** is a rooster. Maybe I choosed the wrong word ;-) |
