Description Solstice celebration in the garden at Valmiera's city museum. Valmiera, Latvia.
It was an traditional (folkloric and ethnographical) Latvian summer solstice celebration - all
the night folk songs were sung at bonfire, the burning wheel (made from wooden wheel and hay) was rolled down from the hill in the darkest moment of night watch video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeRRB7fbSmI) and a small fire-float was let into nearby river shortly before sunrise.
