Close inspection of the high resolution version is recommended. |
| Posted Comments: theCaptain (2010-05-24) | am I missing something ? Not sure what this is meant to be - its certainly not the ring cairn / stone circle to which it has been posted. What am I meant to be looking at here ? | petersmith (2010-05-26) | The next image from this group of stones hopefully will hopefully show better the surface markings on the faces of these stones http://www.megalithic.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=a312&file=index&do=showpic&gid=164&pid=57770&orderby=dateD My own fascination is with the vertical faces of these stones and the shapes and colours they exhibit. I will add the shots of the positioning blocks that clearly demonstrate these stones were positioned here and extensively worked by hand. | petersmith (2010-05-30) | I was wrong about the KT type rock. Most of these are bluestones (its easy to see why). Although quite unusual in the local geology, it was identified on the Geological Survey on these few hilltops around the Aire Valley. |
