It seems you suspect that this site has been partially cleared by the landowner at some time in the past. It must have been prior to 1973 as my photo taken at that time does not differ substantially from more recent ones - except for undergrowth.

This isn't Ty Illtyd howe. It's of some suspicious stones a little to the east, on a bridleway. They were reported to the portal , and I went along to check them out. I suspect they may be field clearance.
