Left: possible reconstruction
General situation:
Slightly oval barrow measuring approximately 12m x 10m x 1,5m.
Chamber size ~ 8m x 3m (clear 6m x 2m).
Chamber is nearly completely filled with moved earth of the barrow.
Only the tops of the orthostats are visible. Other stones may still be covered.
Orthostats:
W, S2, S3, S4, E, N4 and N2 appear to be in situ. S1 is moved as well as N3. N1 is either completely embedded into the ground or robbed. Its neighbour N2 is almost completely embedded into the barrows' remains. Only a very small and overgrown part of the top is detectable.
Entrance:
the lateral entrance obviously was located between orthostats S2 and S3.
Comparison of current situation (2008/2010) with Laux (1967, in Sprockhoff):
One capstone (C3), that appears on the professional 1:100 drawing in Sprockhoff was not visible. |
