Many were spread all over this community's area once, but were destroyed. Warensberg is the name of the remaining one, which is probably only still there, because it is situated a bit aside in a quite young, but dense forest. There is a footpath leading to it, but all overgrown and partwise also through a Christmas tree plantation. Nevertheless, there is a detailed sign showing also all destroyed barrows nearby. This tumulus is still huge, although a part of it once was used as a sand pit; it must have been a giant in ancient days! Nobody cares about this site nowadays, even though a street in Lutzhorn leading to the rural area around is called Warensberg, too.
Site is now more or less the empire of wild boars! Caution!! |
