Description The sun ship is a common design in Scandinavian rock art of the Bronze Age. The cross in a circle represents the sun and shows that the cross is a symbol that was in use long before it was adopted by Christianity. Cut in limestone by Peter Herring. One of a series of reproductions of ancient art.

It seams that nobody has nothing to tell about this. I am interested in all kind of sun reproductions, old ones principally. I am searching the origin of the design of the sun of Argentina flag, a human face sun with 32 rays, can you, Peter or some one help me, please?

Hi Luis - the Argentine sun on their flag is called "The Sun of May" and is based on an Inca image, see http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/ar).html#sun

Thorgrim I have viewed your picture and have a possible solution to your stone. The ancient travelers used the sun and moon for telling time and navigation. I think the circle represents the sun and the cross represents the day of the equanox. The checker board design at the bottom is a recording of their journey from their point of origian. They used the sun to determine latitude and the moon to determine longas well as record time. I have done 28 years of research on an artifact found in Ohio (USA) on my farm. The rock I found appears to be a mold to fabricate a sun dial of coper. If you are interested in additional information about the possible connection between your stone and its relation to early recordings of mans travel you can contact me at (wmsmithrock1@yahoo.com) or visit my web site at (thor-thehuntersohiorock@yahoogroups.com). To date I have 33 sun god symbols plotted on a world map that shows the ancients in Europe were using the same method of navigation as the ones in the USA. If your stone is a verified sun god symbol it can be ploted on the same map. I will be glad to do this if I get all the data. Location where found, number of boxed in squares, number of vertical marks outside the squares. Note all of the sun god symbols I have found in their complete markings show a common point on the earth as the 26 degree latitude (north) and the 71 degree longitude (west). This indicates that early man came from an island near Bimini. I hope to hear from you and I will respond to your questions. I am not an expert in this area as I find very few are. I will be going to Sweedne to look at 2 sites that may be additional sun god symbols. I will return on 7/14/05. best regards William

If I was to describe your stone from the picture I see 13 dots arround the sun symbol and 7 boxed in areas below the sun. If this is the case it says the early travelers spent 13 moons at sea (28.5 days per moon cycle) or 360 days at sea and 7 months on land or 199 days on land to get to the location where the recorded journey was made on your stone. best regards William
