Description The "Fort of the Old Church", as the name translates, lies near Laleston, South Wales. OS maps describe it as the site of the church of St Cewydd who lived c490AD. However the stones look older and the name may imply that people were aware of it's pagan past. SS875809

More delving into local history suggests that the name means "Field of the old church." My apologies for sloppy translation.

The church was raized in 1202 by the monks of Margam. Outside the field gate under the brambles is the base of a market cross,
