My late father recorded a tape of his memories, in which he said that his family originally came from Llanychaer. He said that in the 1880s, all the male members of his family (yound and old) were lost in a shipwreck, except his great grandfather, Benjamin Davies, who was ill and couldn't make the voyage. They plied trade in coasters from Fishguard to France and Spain. After the disaster, my father's ancestors moved to Llanelli where he was born in 1931. I made a trip to Llanychaer around the time of his death in 2000, but could find no information. I wondered if anyone has any ideas on how I might research this.
