| Posted Comments: Martin L (2009-07-11) | There should be a capstone two meters west of these 5 stones. The 5 stones in the picture are exactly at the same positions as on the drawing in the Atlas. And the seventh stone is moved to barrows outside 5 meters to the South of it. All in all 7 stones.
The pit is not that deep (anymore), but in general it is visible on krautrock's overview picture. | holger rix (2009-07-11) | thanx Martin. I don't have that Atlas :-/
Anyhow, the location is some 100m more SW then Sprockhoff's marker.
We didn't know what to expect when we went from the car, so i had just finished to intensely photograf some single bolder in the ground, when krautrock saw the real tomb in the distance. Without him, may be i would have gone missing it. It's team work. | Martin L (2009-07-11) | Yes Holger you are right in general it sometime is a certain problem that the markers have a diameter of approximately 50m. And the person who inserted them into the 1:25000 sometimes missed the exact positions for some 2mm (I remember the Wanna sites where i was not able to find Sprockhoff 639 until you found out, that the markers of 638 and 639 are moved). But apart from some similar cases the maps are extremly useful. |
