You say you could see no visible carvings, but could that be two parallel lines around the stone just below half way up - which look darker in this picture.

You are perhaps right Captain. I'll come to see it again this month with two dutch friends (Regina on the Portal)
I'll verify.

Captain I have visited this site on 2010-08-28. The lines you see on the stone are natural fraction lines, as you can see on the picture.
