| Posted Comments: TauCeti (2009-06-05) | It is worth mentioning from a bok in Portuguese I read, that these magliths are thought to be linked to the Pleaides constellation, as they are almost invariably made of seven stones and open in the direction of the star cluster;
| Martin L (2009-06-05) | The Pleiades consist of > 1000 stars. 5 are of similar magnitude and easily visible with naked eye. 4 more stars are of lesser magnitude, but also visible to the naked eye. So depending on the conditions you either see 5 or 9 stars....Not 7. And the statement, that it "opens to the star cluster" even more shows that the author most probably has no idea of astronomy.
| AngieLake (2009-06-05) | I always thought there were seven stars too. Look at this google file: http://www.sevenstars.org.uk/7Smyth.html | AngieLake (2009-06-05) | And this one: http://encyclopedia2.thefreedictionary.com/Pleiades | Martin L (2009-06-06) | The name "Seven stars" is just mythology. Source of my information is special literature with the magnitudes of the Pleiades stars.... Apart from this, there are more than seven stones visible on the photo of the Dolmen that allegedly is "linked" with the Pleiades. And others are obviously missing.... | aluta (2009-06-06) | For some reason, the Pleiades are known as seven in many cultures around the world. That's all the more interesting in light of what you say, Martin. However, it may well be that this site has nothing to do with that. | tauceti (2009-06-22) | I'd like to reiterate that the book I read does state @thought of being@ related to the Pleaides; the author doesn'tmake astatement of certainty.....
anyway
| tauceti (2009-06-22) | also is worth noticing that the structure has been damaged over millennia..... |
