The small concrete post marks the position of missing stone number 104. The tower of St James church is in the background. |
| Posted Comments: AngieLake (2008-12-31) | Jim, I don't remember the church looking as close as this in real life, so is it some kind of 'foreshortening effect' because of the camera setting? The addition of a figure in this makes the stones look even more imposing. | JimChampion (2008-12-31) | The church is about 330 metres from these stones (I measured it on a map) - the reason it looks so close is the 'compression' effect of using a zoom lens. It is also a bit blurred because of the long exposure in the dim light. There were plenty of people around on this chilly afternoon to give some scale to the stones. | AngieLake (2008-12-31) | Aaahh, thanks for the explanation. Yes, there usually are loads of people around, but it looked as if you just posed this one. I found a summer evening better for photography with just sheep there! |
