Description Two 'bosomy' shaped hills on the right horizon here (205 and 210 degs respectively from the centre of Mardon Down circle), might have been a 'Mother Earth'/ 'Goddess' image to the ancient people.
Maybe they watched the Winter Solstice sun set between them?

I believe they are Chinkwell and Honeybag Tors - NE of Widecombe - which lie to the east of Hamel Down.

My favourite kind of hills :-) Wonderful pictures from Mardon Down.

I think I really need to get 'The Dartmoor Atlas of Antiquities Vol5' maybe an eBay Xmas gift to myself this year.

Hi Matt .... Does that mean you also have Vols 1, 2, 3, and 4? ;-) If not, I'd recommend them, too.
