(Photo by David Garner, in 'Treasures of Ancient Devon', Devon Books, 1996.)
I have two photos of this one from previous visits to Exeter's museum. Meanwhile, I'm posting this to compare it to Martyn's 'Dagenham Dave'!
(See site page 'Royal Albert Memorial Museum' for info.)
NB: I believe the Museum is still closed for refurbishment. |

(I pictured him, instead, with a polished rod or stick thrust through his neck - possibly even threaded on it with other wooden figures - which led me to grin at also imagining him as one of the team in a very early version of our modern table football games! [Coincidentally, the ball-clay firm Watts Blake Bearne who own him, sponsor very successful football teams, ;-)!!]) | AngieLake (2008-08-25) | For more information on the museum go to http://www.exeter.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=2650
The building is closed for refurbishment until Spring 2010. |
