Description Site in Yorkshire: near the cross shafts is a circular cresset stone probably medieval, found in the vicarage garden in 1905. It has seven hollows or cups around a central slightly larger cup. The cups would have held grease and wicks forming lamps to light the church in dark hours. Cresset stones are uncommon and are usually rectangular in shape so the collingham one is unusual.
