Description The Rattlesnake Disk - Moundville Archaeological Park Museum.
This artifact has been described as a "palette" because it was found coated with traces of pigment. The Hand-Eye symbol was found on other objects from this area, but is not uncommon in other cultures in the Americas, as well as in Asia and Europe. Horned Rattlesnakes are also common in Southeastern art from Mississippian cultures. However, the combined design may be unique.
