Description The Bargain Stone, St Peter`s Church, Wolverhampton. (SO 913989) This rare example of a holed standing stone stands within railings surrounding the church. It gets its name from the practice of shaking hands through the hole to seal a bargain. It may look like a gravestone, but it isn`t; they`ve all been laid flat on the ground. There has been a church on this site for over a thousand years, and there is an impressively tall Saxon cross nearby.

It's my hometown so I'm biased towards this picture! :-)
