Description Shaped stone example 04 - as ShropTrav says, there is nothing quite like going through a gateway like this which has been used for so many centuries...
The same pattern of slightly rounded/hollowed stones can be seen in the construction of this gateway, as circled. By now, we had decided that the curved form of the rocks must be related to the way the geological stresses had played out here, with the expansion/contraction due to the severe temperature extremes doing the rest?
