The remains of the two pairs of "breasts" carved on the chevet stone can be seen, but these have been crudely hacked off in the past, leaving just the outlines. The underlying "necklaces" are much more faint. |

| thecaptain (2008-04-16) | yes, it is a rocky outcrop. Initially I had a look to see if it was perhaps the remains of another tomb, but there is nothing to suggest that. And it would have been very surprising if it was, as this place is well known and documented over the centuries !
This is a very interesting forest, with many things to look at, on several waymarked walks. | Martin L (2008-04-16) | Thanks for your explanations! I only know this famous site from literature (unfortunately there always was a lack of time when I passed this area) but never heard about a nearby tomb, so I was curious what these rocks in the background are. |
