Description Kissing gate on the outer bank, on the western side of old Sarum. A footpath follows the top of the outer bank around the hillfort. Beyond the kissing gate the grassy earthworks are grazed by sheep, and the notice next to the gate reminds dog owners to keep their animals on a short lead. The earthworks on this side of the gate are in the process of being cleared of scrub and reseeded, eventually to be grazed by sheep. Maybe then the kissing gates will be removed? (There is another on the south-west side).
