| Posted Comments: RD Boulby (2004-04-04) | Conquered by the Romans probably in late-AD 43, Old Sodbury hillfort was an important centre for the Dobunii Kingdom, a Celtic tribe that had occupied the area since the final centuries BC. The original fort is probably Iron Age in origin and founded in 500-750 BC. |
