The likelihood of stumbling upon a massively perfect passage-grave deep in the maquis was unlikely. Instead I have grown comfortable with my humble lot. And what a humble lot this sad little collection of stones was.
Its capstone was there aslant - about a metre square - and two small orthostats on either side, each about 60cm by 60. There was a shattered chevet or headstone, and with all the rubble it was hard to make out if the length amounted to anything more than a metre. Perhaps this was no more than a 'ciste' whose earth covering had washed away.
Someone had cleared a few shrubs - maybe a year or so ago - but it was being invaded afresh, and would be lost again in a while.
