It lies just to the west of the rough track to 'East Bowden' or 'Higher Halstock' at approx SX604924, on the lower eastern slopes of an unnamed hill to NE of Rowtor.
Top L: Looking north up the valley of the East Okement - [the rise on the right is 'Scarey Tor' (!) on the east bank of the river.] Top R:View ESE towards Belstone Tor [L] and Higher Tor [R]. Bottom L: View S towards Cullever Steps boundary stone and East Okement Farm [note the ridges in the green field on skyline, centre... are these ancient cultivation lines?]. Lastly, Bottom R: Looking East with Belstone Tor and Irishman's Wall in background.
Butler doesn't mention this site in his books. Does anyone know what it is? |
